| It's been awhile since I've posted - things here have fallen into a steady rhythm which has been nice.
This past weekend was lots of fun with fourth of july being on Friday. Actually the festivities began the night before on Thursday night, as it was "little" Jake's 31st birthday. Brett cooked all afternoon/evening and made pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, and cornbread. It was absolutely delicious!! Originally dinner was supposed to be out at the campfire around 10:30pm - but it kept getting pushed back later and later (the meat wasn't done). We didn't end up eating until about 12:30am, and then the party moved out to the bus where the drum set that Alaina picked up in Anchorage, was set up.

Friday night Holly and Tracey bought some fireworks for Tracey's son, Coleman to set off. I didn't end up going with them to see their fireworks - instead Alaina and I went over to the pub to hang out. We met up there with Clint, Tiff, Christian, Jake and a few others; Annaleigha, Rachel, Holly and Jessica all came over later. Once others started taking off Alaina, Clint, Jake, Christian and I hopped in the Panorama shuttle to head over to this construction site to shoot off fireworks with the Panorama guys and some others. We got back to Creekside early in the morning and Alaina, Christian, Jessica and I proceeded to party out in the bus until about 5:30...work was not fun the next morning.

Sunday I had off - took a bike ride, did some reading and had breakfast down at the cafe out on the porch. In the evening Jess and I decided to go out to 229 Parks for dinner. It was nice (albeit on the expensive side) - we had a bottle of wine, appetizer, entrees and dessert. It was one of the best meals that I've had here without a doubt.

| Tuesday afternoon after work I went over to Panoramas with some others, had a few beers and played some corn hole. Later that afternoon we decided to take a hike up into the hills/mountains behind Creekside. With nine of us, it was a bit difficult to keep everyone going at the same pace - but we eventually made it up to the top!!
Chris hugging a carcass that trappers put up on the trails. View from midway up. Creek that 3 of us fell into while trying to cross. Alaina and I were wet up to our knees, while Theresa fell all the way in and was soaking wet. Thankfully the hike down was less strenuous and not as long at the way up.
Haley and I made it to the top! View from the top of the mountain/ridge
Everyone: Haley, Allison, Alaina, Theresa, Cass, Chris, Brian and Scott, hanging out up top.

Today was gorgeous out - mid 60's sunny bright blue skies...so Haley Theresa and I drove about 8 miles North and hiked out to this small beach along the Nenana river. It was a great day to lay out in the sun, until it started raining.

| It's been awhile since I've posted. Here are some quick re-caps of the past week.
- last weekend we all went out to the pub and then came back and had a dance party in the bus - i've been sitting out in the sun and have gotten some nice summer-time color :0) - related to that, haley, alaina and i went out on oxburrow trail and found ourselves a nice sandy little beach alongside the river. we proceeded to nap in the sun for the next two hours. - this past saturday was summer solstice = good times had by all - i'm up to 15 miles rt for biking - finally found where jessica put up her hammock. unfortunately a) its not built for two and b) i don't even know if it's sturdy enough for one... - i got packages in the mail! mom & dad sent up some luna bars and miso soup, and iris sent magazines, soup, tofu, korean snacks etc etc. yay! - i have a three day weekend next weekend, saturday, sunday and monday.

| HAPPY FATHERS DAY! Love You! :0) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last night we had the most spectacular sunset ever! It was the most gorgeous evening I've had here thus far
Today was my first day off for the weekend - we had beautiful weather today. High 60's, sunny, bright blue skies. Haley and I caught a ride into the canyon around 4pm today with Jake, Taylor and Annaleigha, who were going to work at Fish'n'Chips. We did some grocery shopping, and then got some coffee at the local (and only) coffee shop in town. We sat outside for 1.5-2 hours in the lovely, warm sunshine. I got a nice golden brown tan :0) Ha Jen! I'm going to come back from Alaska darker than you. We went rafting at 6:30 with Denali Raft Adventures - Supposedly the Nenana River is a class 4 river, but it's only because it's constant rapids and because of the water temperature (36 degrees today - with the dry suits we had on, hypothermia sets in after around 25 minutes if you're in the water. without it, it's about 25 seconds) It was a great first time white water rafting...I'm planning on going later this summer when there's more water running.

We put in around 7pm, pulled out up in Healy around 9:30pm, walked over to the post office about 1.25 miles down around 10:15pm and then started to hitch back around 10:45pm. We finally arrive back at around 11:45pm ish...it took us an hour to hitch 14 miles, and when you're driving it's only about a 10 minute drive -_- If it's nice out again tomorrow we plan on hiking over on the Triple Lakes path and going sunbathing for a bit ^^ I'll post more about the weekend later | | |
